Nordica, the traditional brand from Italy announces two promising new additions to their racing team. Marcus Sandell and Samu Torsti from Finland will be supporting Nordica's racing aspirations towards the 2018 Olympics. Nordica also confirms continuing collaboration with their existing top athletes.

Bernhard Knauss, head of Nordica Racing is excited about the two promising talents. Each equipped with two-year-contracts, Marcus Sandell and Samu Torsti will be using skis and boots made by the Italian traditional brand from now on. “We have ambitious goals for the 2018 Olympics. We are already starting to build the foundation for our success now. I am happy that we were able to convince Samu, a talented young man, as well as Marcus, an experienced skier with a lot of routine. Both of them have recently showed that they are in very good shape, and the first equipment tests were very promising,” says Knauss.

Two skiers from Finland support World Cup team

Samu Torsti (23) has already been Finnish national champion in giant slalom and was able to score a win in his special discipline in the European Cup as well. Torsti will be able to use the same equipment as the top athletes Neureuther or Dopfer now and expects further very good results from this collaboration. Marcus Sandell (27), the second skier from Finland in the team is already bringing along well founded World Cup experience. His record already shows three European Cup wins as well as several Top 10 placements in the World Cup. After a serious training accident in 2009, he had to fight his way back to the top of the world and has recently shown that he is gaining ground fast.

Long-term dedication in racing confirmed

Along with these two new additions, Nordica confirms the plan of wanting to remain in racing for the long run. The Italians have high expectations for the  2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang as well as for the earlier World Cup seasons. “For us, racing belongs in our brand core. Thus, it is extremely important to form long term collaborations with excellent athletes in this area. We strive to provide our athletes with the best material and to be a strong, reliable partner in this process”, explains Luka Grilc, Brand Manager at Nordica. The established racing team will remain, so that the top skiers Felix Neureuther, Fritz Dopfer, Dominik Paris, Reto Schmidinger and Linus Strasser will continue to be at the top of the podium together with Nordica.
