For the 4th time in a row, the Mayrhofen Freeski Open 2013 went down from January 23rd to 26th 2013. The startlist counting the names of some of the best international riders, firmly predicted a slopestyle freeski competion on highest level. As expected, the Vans Penken Park already turned into a high-class-freeski-performace-stage with the first training on Wednesday.

Andri Ragettli (SUI) Rookie Winner and Wildcard for the Open Class
The rookies were incredibly raising the bar and all spectators were more than blown away by the tricks the kids under the age of 16 years were throwing down. 14year old Andi Ragettli from Switzerland seemed to be unbeatable. Winning the rookie contest with an amazing combination of switch 270 on pretzl 270 off, switch right cork 10 tail, switch left 900 mute and cork 540 handtrack, he also earned a start spot for the pro competition on Friday. With Fabian Boesch, another swiss rookie climbed the podium in second position, while  Austrian young blood Marco Ladner became third.

Lisa Zimmermann (GER): first MFO 2013 Lady
Not surprisingly, German favorite Lisa Zimmermann and Kelly Sildaru from Estonia were batteling it out in the girls category. In the end it was Lisa Zimmermann who was one more time a well deserved winner throwing down a 270 on the downrail, a cork 900 tail on a switch right 720 mute and a 270 out off the double kinked pipe. Kelly Sildaru became second and local Mayrhofen rider Philo Bair surprisingly completed the women´s podium in third place.

Rico Schuler (SUI) takes the Victory
Scattered light and light snowfall did not make it an easy one for the riders of the men´s competition on Friday. Out of the two Qualification heats, the best ten riders moved on to the finals. Swiss ripper Rico Schuler already stood out with the best score in the Qualifications of Heat 2. In the finals, he kept on throwing down absolutely clean tricks with long held grabs and a banger style. His winning run including a 270 on 270 off, switch right 720, switch left double 900, dub 10 and bs 450 off the high rail finally made the young Swiss talent an undisputed winner of the Mayrhofen Freeski Open 2013. For his victory, the Nordica Freeskiers team rider took home 3.000 euros prize money. With Luca Tribondeau in second place, another very young and gifted rider jumped on the podium. His run with a clean 270 on, right 900, switch left dub 900, dub 1080 and misty 450 off the high rail was rewarded with 2.000 Euros prize money. Just very closely behind Luca Jonas Hunziker, the second Swiss Nordica Freeskiers athlete on the podium, finished in third position, taking home a prize purse of 1.000 Euros. Jonas was leading the ranking of the Qualification Heat 1 and convinced the judges with his run of hardway 270 on, dub 10, right 900, switch left double 900, 270 disaster. The winner of the Rookie Contest made it through the Qualifications into the finals. Andi Ragettli finished the Pro Contest in 6th place. We should keep our eyes on this kid!

Mercedes-Benz GLK Nightshow delighted Mayrhofen
1.500 spectators came out to watch the Mercedes-Benz GLK Nightshow on Friday Night. Right at the bottom of the Ahorn the Nordica Freeskiers delivered a breathtaking bigair freestyle show on a special setup in the beautful scenery of the ski jump Mayrhofen.
